How to improve the mentoring/learning process using the concepts of multiple intelligences
If an analyst’s writing and briefing skills are not well-developed enough to effectively communicate the results of his or her analysis to those who need it, that analyst’s work—no matter how important, timely, or skillfully produced—may be worthless.

When writing and briefing, intelligence professionals must satisfy the stylistic requirements of the intelligence and law enforcement communities.

Gardner's Multiple Intelligences

Paper Writing for Mathematical/Logical Learners. Yesterday, I wrote a blog post briefly outlining all of the intelligences and some paper writing ideas for each type of learner. For the next few days, I will go into more detail about each intelligence and list some ideas for tackling the paper writing process.
There is evidence for shared and overlapping pathways for language and music (Koelsch et al., 2004)

Gardner(1999) states that Mi theory demands that linguistic processing occurs
via a
different set
of neural mechanisms than does spatial or interpersonal processing (page 99)
(Abbeduto & Symons, 2014)
Research findings for the General Intelligence or G factor theory:
There is evidence to show the existence of innate cognitive modules that generate specific adaptive behavior patterns.

Howard Gardner of Harvard has identified seven distinct intelligences

Feb 17, 2011 · The Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) approach has proven to be a valuable intervention to assist children who struggle with the process of writing.

Research findings for Multiple Information Processing Systems:

There are two large scale information processing pathways or streams in the brain.

One pathway analyzes what we hear and what we see to answer that question “What is it?”

The other pathway analyzes what we hear and see and feel to answer the question “Where is it?”

Studies show that these pathways are not functionally isolated from one another.

Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles are not the same thing!
Multiple Intelligences
"A bio psychological potential to process information that can be activated in a cultural setting to solve problems or create products that are of value in a culture." (Gardner, 1999, pp.33-34)

Howard Gardner MI=
8 independent intelligences in the brain.

To do this, participants will learn to write and brief according to the standards and style of the intelligence and law enforcement communities using accurate, brief, and clear language; the Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) format; executive summaries; peer editing; and intelligence community secrecy protocols.

Theory of multiple intelligences - Wikipedia

In the intelligence genre it’s imperative that the language used is as clear, concise, and to-the-point as possible, as carefully crafted language leaves nothing to interpretation and greatly reduces the likelihood that a decision maker will misinterpret the results of analysis and, as a result, make a decision that is contrary to state, local, or national interests.

In this 3-day training program, analysts will improve their writing and briefing styles and techniques so that communication of their analysis will be clearer, better organized, and more useful to an intelligence consumer.

Your general intelligence or g factor is your ability to reason, problem solve, decide, learn & act successfully in the pursuit of your valued goals.
