(Imperial), MBA, born in Australia and a graduate of Oxford and Cambridge, was Viscount Royston Professor at Imperial College, Director of Cardiology at Royal Brompton Hospital, Dean of Medicine and DVC at Sydney and CEO of the Norwich Research Park. He is director of the Monash Warwick Alliance. Andrew has 57,000 citations (H-index 107) in the field of heart failure research and has led many major clinical trials. Andrew received the Linacre Medal (Royal College of Physicians) and Michael L Pollock award (American Heart Association). Andrew co-founded PsiOxus therapeutics and served as editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Cardiology 1999-2016.

Liza Thomas is a Conjoint Professor at the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales and is head of the noninvasive cardiac imaging in the Department of Cardiology at Westmead Hospital. Her major research focuses on echocardiography and noninvasive cardiac imaging. Specific interests include imaging for the assessment of atrial dynamics and function, diastolic function, chemotherapy induced cardiomyopathy, amyloid and Fabry cardiomyopathies and cardiac involvement in chronic kidney disease. She is the cardiovascular coordinator for the NSW Fabry and Amyloidosis groups. Prof Thomas supervises PhD, Masters and ILP students. She has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings.

Professor Richard O’Brien is Clinical Dean of the University of Melbourne Clinical School, Austin Health, where he is also Director of the Lipid Service and a senior endocrinologist. Prof O’Brien is president-elect of the Asia Pacific Society of Atherosclerosis and Vascular Diseases and he currently chairs the Australian Diabetes Society expert committee on hyperlipidaemia. His research interests focus on atherosclerosis, diabetes and lipid abnormalities. In addition to his teaching and research commitments, Prof O’Brien maintains active clinical practice in Endocrinology and Diabetes.

Professor John French is an academic interventional cardiologist, having co-authored 215 peer-reviewed papers. Prof French currently works at Liverpool Hospital, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, and also consults at Riverina Cardiology and South West Cardiology (in Camden), NSW, Australia. His major clinical and research interests include management of acute coronary syndromes especially ST elevation MI with acute percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), cardiac biomarkers especially high sensitivity troponins, and revascularisation of patients with diabetes; while no longer having a laboratory Prof French has an ongoing interest in cardiac genetics. Prof French has been a conjoint Professor at UNSW since 2003, director of Cardiac Research at Liverpool Hospital since 2004, and director of the Coronary Care Unit in the Cardiology Department at Liverpool Hospital (HOD 2007-11). Prof French has recently co-authored the NHF-CSANZ (Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand) 2016 ACS guidelines (lead writer for the STEMI section). He was the medical co-chair of the ACI cardiac network of NSW [2012-5], and chair of the clinical trials council of CSANZ [2011-4].
